The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced a recommended rate change that will impact various mailing services and postage rates starting on July 14, 2024. If approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC), these adjustments will raise mailing services product prices by approximately 7.8%.
Here are the key details:
1. First-Class Mail Price Increase
First-Class Mail Forever stamp will rise 5¢ from 68¢ to 73¢.
Metered First-Class letters will rise from 64¢s to 69¢.
Domestic postcards will rise from 53¢ to 56¢.
2. Additional Changes
An additional ounce in single-piece letters will increase from 24¢ to 28¢.
Special Services products, including Certified Mail and money order fees, will also be adjusted.
Postal insurance fees will see a 10% reduction.
Financial stability and the future:
These rate adjustments are necessary for the USPS to achieve financial stability as it continues to adapt to changes in the mailing and shipping marketplace. Despite the increase, USPS prices remain among the most affordable globally
